Shogun drop an absolute monster remix 12'' to keep things bubbling in preparation for the Alix Perez album, ‘1984’, scheduled for October. With both tracks having been prominent features on Friction’s recent mix album and Grooverider’s support on Radio 1 this is yet another must-have Shogun release.
First up to be given the once over is ‘Down The Line’ and believe us when we say the original was killer but this remix is iller! The boy wonder Break has taken the once tough but dulcet tones and turned them into what’s commonly known as a dance floor destroyer. Although Break shows his softer side with a beautifully melodic, vocal and guitar-laden intro it’s the drop of face-wincing grizzle bass and neck-snapping snares that mark this one out from the crowd. Wait for the switch-up on the second drop too, total carnage!
To most it would be a hard act to follow but Shogun’s own Icicle rises to the challenge with ease and takes ‘Stray’ into some seriously dark territories. Keeping the original samples intact he plays with us at first, teasing with sporadic kicks, snares and looped pads before a nasty drone bass rattles in and takes things deep deep down. Expertly crafted, this one’s ice-cold!
Love from all areas including Friction, Grooverider, Bailey, D Bridge, Andy C, Pendulum, Break, Noisia, Alix Perez, Icicle, Ed Rush and more.
