For years, Talen had kept to stealing audio materials from shoddy record stores, taking them to their workshop in order to electrify the stolen merchandise. The cover photo of The Comic Book shows a member of Talen during one such experiment in their studio located in Winterthur. The sonic results were recorded and subjected to the most rigorous of scientific scrutiny. „We found that the combination of Jamaican records and high voltage works best, we thus repackaged the output on vinyl as purely as possible. Wherever we considered that amendments were necessary, we used nails lying about to scratch the records, until we were pleased“
