Influential Dutch grime producer JLSXND7RS debuts on Dream Eater with the four-track Ceres EP, enlisting MC Armour, a member of the trailblazing N.A.S.T.Y Crew, for vocal duties.
Ceres ft. Armour is a skank-inducing sheller with forward-thinking production. A cacophony of woozy synths are layered over rolling hi-hats and the tune's zig-zagging bassline draws parallels with the sliding 808s of drill. Yet the track's intermittent horn stabs and Armour's raw, hyped-up vocal ensure the record retains a distinctly grimy feel.
Irish native Burke, whose releases featuring the likes of Trim and Logan have seen him gain traction in both the grime and dubstep scenes, provides a remix of the title track. In his darker, stripped-back take, the synths are subdued by a sprawling, dungeon-esque bassline, while intermittent, icy bells provide a layer of broken, eerie melody.
The instrumental versions of both songs complete the tracklist.
JLSXND7RS has worked with an array of high-profile MCs including Wiley, Footsie, Discarda and Lethal Bizzle. He currently resides in London.
Dream Eater Records was founded in 2017. As well as putting out original tracks, the label frequently liberates cult instrumentals to be enjoyed by both old and new-gen fans.
