Before coming together to form Saint Ballantine, Brooklyn-based duo Andrew Thomas Reid and Brian 'Sene' Marc were busy pushing creative boundaries on their own. As one half of Denitia & Sene, Sene caught the attention of everyone from Red Bull Sound Select to Rolling Stone and Paper with their lilting electro-soul and striking style. Andrew, an artist, creative director, producer, and visionary with a penchant for branding, helped to materialize a communal incubator for young artists in Brooklyn called the Clubhouse (aka ClubCasa). It's no surprise that the Clubhouse provided the canvas for Andrew and Sene to come together, bond, and eventually collaborate to form Saint Ballantine.
Born within the walls of the Clubhouse (Ditmas Park, Brooklyn), Saint Ballantine was formed under a mutual love and appreciation for Electronic and Urban music. When the duo first came together, it was easy to see that within the confines of their music, something magical was happening. As new tracks unfolded, both musicians/producers organically blended personal influences to create their sound, a genre-bending chill and down-tempo groove surfaced and created the backdrop for lyrics that read more like scripts than song lyrics.
In “The Stoned”, mellow yet enchanting vocals call out from space, floating above the driving synth based production. Buzzing basslines and bright melodic elements come together creating an inviting, hypnotic, wall of sound to get lost in. The first single from the forthcoming EP coming in November, “The Stoned”, should set the tone of what's to come. Good vibes. In addition to the single and EP, a full length album is scheduled in March via New York label Tommy Boy Entertainment.
