Modrocker's debut EP for Water Bear Records - The Stars EP - is a masterfully laid 3 track soundscape of deep, pumping, rhythmic techno. He seamlessly transcends the borders of multiple styles and sub genres, showing us a bit of a different side than we have seen from Modrocker through his previous works on other labels, all while still maintaining his own unique take on the tech house and minimal techno sound.

The EP opens up with the deep grooves of a pumping minimal track titled 'The Stars', but quickly evolves into something more orientated to tech house. The track is driven by thick rolling bass and accompanied by smooth and soulful vocals that add to the rich palette of dark chords and stabs that resonate throughout.

Modrocker's second track on the EP, 'Free Falling' is a techy minimal track with a deep, energy packed groove. The extra percussion elements add some really exciting flavor, and dimension to the tune as it slowly builds from the dreamy pads that drew us in, to the grimy redux'd synths that come after the cut gets into full swing.

The final track on the EP is a throbbing techy minimal gem titled 'Alpha, Beta, Data' that earns its name through the deep, well placed vocals that pair perfectly with thick, hard rolling bass line. The overall vibe is deep and looming, with a heavily digitized feel towards the latter half. Modrocker features a pluck driven lead accompanied by long drawn out strings that tie everything together in a dark and mesmerizing way. 'The Stars EP' is not one to be overlooked.
