Formed in London in 2009, Awale' is a reflection of London's multiculturalism. The 8 piece (and sometimes more!) band take their influences from Afrobeat, Balkan music, North African Amazigh music, Congolese Rhumba, Ethio Funk, Jazz and Latin music, and blend them into a unique style which has been described by BBC Radio 3's Lopa Kothari as, "bringing a distinctive eastern take on afrobeat."
So what are they doing on Deep House label Lost My Dog? The label's Strakes explains, "Awale' came to our attention thanks to our long-time chum Giom who knew the band's guitarist Thibault Remy and had been working on a remix of 'Seddik'. We loved Giom's remix which nodded towards classic Julien Jabre style French House, checked out Awale''s 2012 self-released album 'Just Have To Grow' which was fantastic, and worked out a way to release a remix package with Pete Dafeet also providing a version."
