Cuz Electric continue their meteoric rise in the Nu-Disco scene with their first outing on Particle Zoo Recordings. Having penned efforts for Midnight Riot, Paper Disco and SpinCat, future releases for Thunder Jam and Alpaca Edits are set to maintain the pressure.
Featuring the vocal talents of Megan Jones, Santa Cuz is a delicious blend of NuDisco and French House styles, with no small measure of song-craft and production skill on display.
Mother's Ruin is a fully-fledged Disco bomb bristling with retro synths and lavish arrangements, garnished with Megan Jones' sweet vocal tribute to the quintessentially English Gin n' Tonic. Dea's Gone Dancing brings up the rear, with a Lindstrom-esque progressive Disco groove steadily building and bubbling, each new layer subtly ramping the energy up higher until the dance-floor is full. Dea's already there, of course.
On remix duty we have the rising star of NuDisco, Andy Buchan, alongside Irish producer of Disco Daze and recently Hot Digits fame, Stephen Richards, whose effort channels the best of Danny Tenaglia for a surefire Chicago House winner.
Label boss Don Dayglow takes on Mother's Ruin, strips it back and re-imagines it in tribute to Proto-House pioneer Boyd Jarvis, who recently passed away. Squelchy.
