WW Records presents Sakura, a solo piano piece by Llywelyn Ap Myrddin performed by Aisa Ijiri. Written for the Brighter Japan Festival 2013 this piece is a meditation on beauty and the fragility of live. Sakura translates as âCherry Blossom', a classic symbol of beauty in Japanse culture. Each year the blossoms appear on masse and disappear again within a week. The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death has often been associated with mortality. Accompanying the original recording is an off-kilter mashup by WW stalwart Old Man Diode, using original samples from the recording to create something dark, brooding and altogether completely different, yet somehow similar.
