If you weren't content with Bakongo's return single a few months ago then how about two more sensational cuts from the label head himself. Springing a surprise once again, Bakongo delves deep into the transcendental with a pair of irresistible swingers prime for those moments where bodies are bound to get moving.
'Rolling Blackouts' has that booming bass and tribalistic tendencies that no other producer does better, but much more techier influences can be heard creeping into play which really strikes an ethereal contrast. Stuttering almost eerie synths play the starring roll as the subtle yet hard-hitting low frequencies and thudding kicks roll steadily below them creating a strange and wonderful palette of sound. 'Branches' is much more familiar with squawking trills and a grooving drum arrangement and it's the shuffling, late-night rhythm that strikes a chord here. Subtlety and depth are something that Bakongo knows a lot about as well as overwhelming bass, and luckily both are in marvellous correlation on this set of dancefloor movers.
