Another former Global Guidance graduate returns. This time around San Francisco DJ's Rasoul and McCarthy deliver a hard knocking three track EP, "Present Retrospect". The A-side's "Retrospect" starts with minimal, bouncy percussion and dynamic flanges before it breaks into fabulous deep house keys. The trademark swiggles and simple female chants which ensue are reminiscent of their superb 1995 Strictly Rhythm release under the moniker NW2. "Shifting Gears" on the B-side is a concealed disco chugger with tech overtones. Drawing the EP to a close, we take a sub-oceanic dive to visit "Atlantis", a very digital track with big drums and low frequencies. A little different from the recent school of Guidance releases, this EP is still excellent for both the home and the dancefloor.
