Psychosis is another really great 4 track installation from Hijacked Records Detroit. If these guys can maintain this type of integrity, then the future of techno can shine a little brighter. With 3 brand new tracks and a killer remix of a timeless classic, I find it difficult to settle on a favourite here. The EP opens with Antwon Faulkner's "Techno Muzik 2010". This is a new track with all the old elements that made Detroit great. With an old school sample, soft chords and crisp highs, this track proves that real techno is alive and well. The next track is Antwon Faulkner's remix of "Good Life". This is not just another remix. The mix is super funky and really bass heavy but, not to the point where it takes away from the mids, or that telltale sample. Rights after the breakdown, the beat kick is explosive and energetic. A lot of extra work went into managing the bass on this track and it comes out sounding real right! Following that, we have Gusto's debut track "Black Wolf". Increasing the BPM and infusing some older industrial type sounds, this track may be new but takes me back to really good memories of older warehouse parties. Finally, we have Dru Ruiz's first solo track "Detroit I Am V2". Haunting seems to be a theme with this artist, with his female vocal and echoing percussive sounds. He also brings an element of funk to this track leaving Dru's particular signature of techno and reminding you to dance. This release will leave you excited to see what's next. So will, what's next!
