Eric helps run the 3Bridge Records imprint and it only makes sense that he'd be one of the ones to help launch the new 3Bridge Elements label with a new EP. It's a drastic departure from the stuff he's released on the 3Bridge Records, and that's a good thing. It explores deep, lush, melody driven soundscapes which move and breathe as their own entity.
'Stories With No Endings' starts off with layered, effected guitars and that calmly transport the listener into his or her own story. It slowly builds with with strings and piano that truly create a world of its own. Effected choir voices come in and out of the crackling backgrounds evoking truly optimistic but melancholic undercurrents.
Next up, the song 'A Perfect World In Our Heads' plays a bit like the somber brother of the first track. Minor key strings, gongs, and subtle arpeggios play like a dramatic sequence in a film although it never strays from its quiet and understated qualities.
The wonderful 'Time Stands Still Below Us' has more of celestial sounding approach. It sails towards the heavens but never gets too high as muffled voices and beeps keep the grounding as if electricity was zapping through the air.
And to close, 'Those Signals' takes a bit of playfulness and adds it to the proceedings with vintage samples that give it a bit of a sci-fi feel, as if you were in a spaceship of your own mind, driving through stars and planets to unknown worlds. Beautiful pads play into the stratosphere, while guitars appear periodically like shooting stars.
Take a listen to this marvelously produced EP and create your own stories that might or might not have an ending.
