This work is the result of two years of intense collaboration between musician Ali Abou el Fadl and the electro-noise artist Massimo Croce. At the basis of this work, thereas the idea of forging the co-existence of tradition and modernity but at the same time the synthesis of sound in the friendship that was created between the two musicians. The sound of Alias nay is immersed and surrounded by a sequence of electronic elaboration and the insertion of sound passages of Egypt operated by Massimo. Symbolically, the nay represents the voice of the human being who has constructed around himself a technological world, symbolized by electronic sound-noise. It is hard to define the musical genre of this work. It is a sort of ambient-noise in which the research is directed in the valorization of the traditional sound of the nay through the possibility of elaboration that the computer offers. It almost means that modernity is never, as the futurists taught, a negation of tradition, but the capacity of re-evaluating with contemporary language what the past leaves us as inheritance.
