Misfit residents montel (Bedrock, Knee Deep In Sound, Viva) and Steve Boyd have teamed up to launch an exciting new record label project. Running in conjunction with their weekly club event, the label's musical direction will mirror the clubs ethos of high quality, forward thinking House & Techno.

The Misfit brand was born around five years ago and set up a weekly Friday residency at Belfast longest running night club, Thompson's Garage.

Over the last few years the night's presence has grown considerably on the international circuit and become known as one of the top U.K. based parties. Guests have included everyone from Carl Craig to Eats Everything, Kevin Saunderson to Anja Schneider and George Fitzgerald to Tiga.

With this level of international talent passing through on a weekly basis, it seemed like a natural progression to take the sound of the night onto the international stage as a record label.

This first release comes from label honcho montel! 'Mindtrip' is a hard hitting slice of contemporary Techno. The track showcases montel's trademark sound. A heavy, driving bassline bolstered by pounding beats and crisp percussion. As the track progresses, acidic 303 sounds rise up to give the track another dimension. Retrospective sounding vocal elements and additional synth work takes the track to a whole new level. Without doubt, one of montel's finest techno inspired outtings to date.

Track 2 'Revolution' utilises more of a House music construction with its rolling beats. Off beat synth stabs and and repeating vocal elements give the track a groovy, tripped out vibe. Dark & heavy synth pads filter up in the breakdown building the tension, before releasing the track back into its percussive groove.

Drumcode regular Ramiro Lopéz completes the release. Bringing his unique take on modern Techno to the title track. A stripped back, dark and futuristic twist on montel's original.

Ramiro Lopéz plays Misfit alongside montel on August 11th.
