It's been a while since we last saw talented producer Marcin Stepien aka Neptun 505 round these parts, but the wait is over as we present another superb slice in the form of the two tracker Lunar EP. Growing up he listened to music from hip-hop to dance. Over time electronic music took his interest so he started to study the roots of this type of music. Artists like Michael Cretu (Enigma), Kraftwerk and Jean-Michel Jarre are the people who had the greatest impact on him. He started to make own music in 1999 but 2008 was a real breakthrough year for him with original and remix releases on labels like Magnetide Records, UDTK Records, and then later on Dirty Stuff Records, Electronic Tree, Mistique Music, Smart Phenomena Records and Passion Fruit Recordings. Aside from his Bonzai Progressive debut with his Zulu EP, Marcin then showed up on Green Martian with a top notch collaboration with E.F.G. and their Followed By Eye back at the start of 2015. Lunar intros with a nice chunky kick drum and crispy hi hat combo while a deep bubbling bassline starts to rise up from the depths. The rhythm is locked in right from the off thanks to the intricate percussion patterns. A single note leads us into a truly hypnotic groove that becomes the centre of the track while all around we're treated to some fantastic FX and arpeggios. A sublime effort that is a definite must have track for any prog set. Five Whistles is a solid slice of prog set in a deep and grooving workout filled with tight beats and a vast array of sounds and FX. A strong bassline pulsates on the low end as the FX create a wonderful textured layout. Sweeping synths contain subtle melodies that blend effortlessly with the myriad of sounds. On the break a deep droning bass dominates before we get thrust right back into full on mode for the duration. Superb stuff that will not disappoint.
