Seven minutes is not much time, but time has always been limited, and power does not recognize a clock. In seven minutes a car can be sent around the Nurburgring, a favoured cocktail can be savored, an epic poem recited, and the sound barrier broken. Of these few examples, Lightning Two has the most in common with the latter. The track opens with the immediate sense that it is a living, sentient thing, and it is all around you. You are immediately aware that they will soon be given an experience not soon forgotten. From here the tempo escalates, and the synths begin their climb to cruising altitude. You're almost unaware of the rhythm forming in the background until it is already there. You feel the music fall away as a soothing piano melody calms your senses. It draws to mind visions of simpler times, and feelings of nostalgia. A sense of security forms as the synths are gradually reintroduced to the equation. With a sudden blast of powerful progressions the walls of your comfort zone are dashed, scattered like so many motes of dust. This is a journey we are on, not a holiday. You recognize the beat from earlier, but it feels different now, it feels like you are part of the track. You will be hard-pressed to find a single unmoving body at this point, but you will keep pressing-on. The break-beats catch you by surprise, but you relish each one, something is building, and you know it. Each strike of the piano's keys are drawing you closer to something, but you aren't sure what, there is always mystery as you approach the barrier to the unknown. As the synths fade out you begin to hear the drums in the distance, this is it, this is what you have ceaselessly driven towards. You are on the precipice, you are finally ready. The track becomes poly-dimensional, and you are plunged into a symphonic whirl. Synths build and drop as a melody evolves around you, you are fully immersed as the core beat of the song pounds on with the steadiness of a second hand. The beat breaks and pulses like the sonic blast of the fighter jet with which the song shares a name. How is it possible for the track to still be climbing? Before you realize it, the track is fading out, and everything draws to a close with a beautiful melody, remember how short seven minutes can seem. Distributed By Symphonic Distribution -
