The track titles alone give you an idea of this single's direction - 'Lava' and 'Shakka' take you into a realm created by Filip Motovunski's cleverly held together musicality. Its release symbolises his room to express the mystical and tribal vibes that a part of him is carrying, a part of his soul evident through every bar of sound.

Hailing from the scenic world of Croatia, Filip became involved with his craft as a child, mostly as an MC whilst beat making in his PCP band throughout his youth. As part of the country's sound system culture, he soon turned his hand to production and from there the rest is history.

Released on Breaks Per Minute Records, which has always committed itself to bringing a whole host of diverse artists to the industry's stage, Filip finds himself a perfect platform for his eclectic vision. Up first, 'Lava' features the artist's first ever verse he performed on a track, even with his slightly broken accent. Although having a background in Croatian rap, 'Lava' was recorded and written in English. This was a challenging project for the producer, evident not only through his use of hip hop but also through his ingeniously formulated drum & bass breakdowns. Taking you deep into the shamanistic jungle, his inflections add to each hook deliciously, with a drop that conjures strange images in your mind. You're certainly taken into unfamiliar territory, although it's a territory where Filip reigns supreme. 'Lava' is subtle, yet still doesn't diminish on impact.

Rolled out next is 'Shakka', which stands with a more dancehall like, rhythmic pattern. Still trying to fit the genre's vibe and tempo, yet not throwing all its weight behind crushing snares and instead creating a more creeping overtone, Filip masterfully presents his art. Clicking its heels and moving forward on lofty beats, the frequency is set to stun. Then splitting into a half time number, 'Shakka' really brings you down into a place which you thought was unheard of. Filip proves he can effortlessly break out of any paradigm set up for him. And it's this release which has once again painted that picture; an artist who time and time again moves away from the norm.
