It has been almost two years since the Get Physical crew has released a volume of their ‘Full Body Workout’ series. This very well might be the strongest one of the bunch, proving Get Physical has not lost their desire to find and groom new talent. Boasting a roster of artists that have recently blossomed into their own, as well as many promising newcomers whose tracks have tipped the discriminative ears of DJ T. and M.A.N.D.Y. Eight of the juiciest and DJ favorite cuts will be available as a 2x12” vinyl. The mix CD features all fourteen of the tracks. Wilde Bookings and Get Physical, with support from the compilation, are teaming up to commence the ‘Full Body Workout Tour’. All of the contributors to volume four of the Full Body Workout - which entails five live acts and thirteen DJ’s - will be available from September to December for bookings throughout Europe. Belgian wonder boy Jona has been on a bit of a tear lately. Legendary Carl Craig has snapped up two of his latest gems for the prestigious Planet-E label, he has remixed Junior Boys and his contribution to the 5 Years Get Physical compilation; ‘Fisherman’ is still making waves. ‘Blackened’ is a different style from his usual relentless beats and dance-floor driven tracks, but the mellow 115 bpm groove lacks no less amount of craftsmanship. 22 year old Frankfurt resident Daniel Mehlhart, has a very promising future ahead of him, proved by his first addition to our catalog in the shape of ‘Origami’, for the Kindisch record label. ‘Redrum Society’ is further indication that he has an ear for making bubbling percussive tracks with enduring grooves and melodies that intrigue and excite. Not to be outdone by the newcomers, Einzelkind and Meat pull a few tricks out of their sleeves. Arno Miguel and Meat are always on point when it comes to injecting fun and funk on the dance floor with unmatched technicality, proved by their many releases on GPM and Kindisch over the last few years. ‘Baléa’, is a quirky track filled with the laughter of children, while not lacking the originality and sophistication this duo has gained fame for. Gavin Herlihy cut his teeth at London based music publication Mixmag, before jumping into production. This self-taught producer has a firm grasp of how to make original tracks that stand out. His releases on Buzzin’ Fly, Mood Music, Kindisch and remix duty for Unkle and Get Physical provide doubtless proof. ‘Indian Horn’, showcases his exceptional ability to incorporate unusual sounds to create truly grooving Tech-House. Without a doubt one of the fastest rising talents in the last few years, the Italoboyz have made a name for themselves by churning out what seems to be hit after hit. Two prime examples are the violin driven, ‘Zinga’, which was released on GPM last fall and the ground breaking and club smashing 'Viktor Casanova'; one of the most played tracks of last summer. They have again returned to a more organic vibe, as slashing hi-hats and the improvisational usage of a shuffling drum solo is the heartbeat for 'Downtown'. Two-member live outfit Elektrochemie consists of accomplished producer Thomas Schumacher and Australian vocalist Caitlin Devlin. They are no newcomers to GPM and look to up the ante with their latest composition. This revisited version of 'Starstruck' is laced with luscious pads meshed with Caitlin's sultry and seductive voice that climax at the pinnacle of eroticism. Dakar's first GPM submission and subsequent release was the summer vocal hit, 'I've Got That Feeling', which walked the line of over and underground. 'Milking The Cash Cow' keeps it underground with the utilization of a clever bouncing bass line and a slew of sound effects and snippets, all musically choreographed to create a hypnotic melody. Who can forget one of the most recognized tracks of the last few years, 'Les Djinns' from Djuma Soundsystem? It has been a while since then, but the Norwegian/Danish duo are back on Get Physical with the imaginative track, 'Small Fries'. Tightly mixed drums and a truly melodic bass line drive this track into a very deep and esoteric territory. What would a Full Body Workout be without a newcomer? That newcomer is accomplished Swedish DJane Ida Engberg. Her initial success came in the form of 'Disco Volante', which was quickly snapped up by John Dahlback for his Pickadoll label. 'The Giant from Nibiru', co-written and co-produced by David West, is a peak time killer soaring with effects and a charming hook line. German born and Netherland resident Patrice Bäumel is coming off making one of the most talked about tracks of the year: The kick-less, 'Roar'. By no means is he satisfied to sit back and rest on his achievements, by heading right back in the studio and coming out with the piercing and appropriately titled, 'Javelin'. This one hits the bull's eye utilizing warm dreamy pads layered with synth stabs and heavily swinging percussive elements. Berlin based Matchbox are DJ Martin Gorges and producer Ilja Coric. They saw great success with their first 12", 'U Can Get Sonar' on Kindisch, which was featured on Fabric 38 mixed by GPM head honchos, M.A.N.D.Y. Further notoriety came about from their quirky remix of Booka Shades's hit song 'Charlotte'. 'Sommerpferdchen' is recognizable due to its clever synth programming and simple rhythms. Void of technical mastery it is not, but vivacity and freshness are what give this track a joyful atmosphere. Lopazz is one of the nuclear members of the Get Physical family that never disappoints with his unique tracks that are void of trendy gimmicks and clichés. What you get here is music from the mind of an accomplished composer and musician, who clearly makes music from a different angle. 'Live in Brazil' follows in those strides utilizing vocals and constantly arpeggiating and undulating harp chords capable of enveloping any listener. Williams is a long time GPM contributor and owner of the upstart label Love Triangle. 'Natty Dread' is a deep and techy follow up to his last GPM hit, 'El Baile'. You won't find any blatant Reggae samples here, but it is filled to the brim with blues guitar licks, warped trumpet stabs and a thunderous sub bass that epitomizes proper organic 4/4 Funk. Omurah is a new project from the long time Danish Berlin resident, Raz Ohara. His self-titled album with The Odd Orchestra received critical acclaim the world over. An album that emanated a high level of genuine soul and emotion not often heard in many of today's electronic music compositions. Raz draws the elements for 'Colefire' from the same source of inspiration for his album. Creating a track that is characterized by its emotive leads and synthesized rhythms wrapped up in a big blanket of soft clicking beats. Get Physical continues to extend their empirical reach without diluting their status. This years sees them embarking on a new label, Get Digital, the integration of a new website and their first double 12" release of the year with the fourth installment of the 'Full Body Workout' series. A compilation that showcases the hottest GPM talent at the moment, displaying the diversity and quality the label has received worldwide acclaim for.
