German producer Patrick Kuessner heads up our next CZ release and does it in style. His five track Free Mind EP is the epitome of what we want our label to be about, solid underground techno grooves. In 2009 Patrick found himself intrigued by the famous TR-808 drum machine after reading an online article. After getting his hands on an emulation of this most famous sound, he then discovered the TR-303 and TR-909 and the roots from where the sprouted. Having cut his teeth in Autiotool he soon set up his own studio with an aim to create his own unique brand of techno and drew inspiration from the likes of Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Jeff Mills and Terence Dixon. A rising talent with a lot to offer, it's well worth checking this guy out.

This fine EP opens with the title track - Free Mind and gets down and dirty with a solid slice of techno right from the off. Chunky beats are offset by a simple sharp hat and a subtle percussion arrangement that generates a cool rhythm. The big focus here though are those gritty, squeclhy 303 lines that cascade up and down right through the track. Perfectly tweaked and ready for action, this one will hit the floors hard.

Main Distraction delivers a cool retro styled techno slice complete with beautifully crafted acid lines and FM basses. Punchy kicks and crispy hats keep the rhythm on the move alongside some classic percussions. The groove is dripping with techno flavours as those 303 lines twist and turn creating a truly hypnotic vibe that raids the senses. Top notch stuff and a definite must have track.

Transistorized intros with a big and bold sound that grabs your attention right off the bat. Nice punchy kick drums soon follow and the rhythm gets going with gusto. A collection of bight hats and cymbals come through delivering a boost to the already established rhythms. That traversing synth dominates the track throughout and the underlying bass adds depth to the superb techno groove.

Admiring You opens with some cool intertwining 303 lines that morph into a surreal detuned melody. Cool percussions layer up and the track binds together beautifully awaiting the arrival of the impending drums. The kicks come through and the track gets locked into its solid techno flow. This one dishes out a mesmerizing trip into the world of classic sounds that will definitely get the nostalgia juices flowing.

Rounding up this wonderful pack we have Minimal And Chill which intros with a very cool sound that digs deep into your mind with its penetrating, probing wormlike presence. Big chunky kicks come through in a laidback kinda groove as alongside minimal percussions. The raw sound from the synths dominate the groove relentlessly and without mercy as you soak up the energy. This is the type of track the big sound systems were made for, play this loud you will not be disappointed.
