  • Description 3 years on from the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, Grum is back with a new single, Everytime. Receiving its debut play on Annie Macs Radio 1 show, Everytime is the first track to be released from Grums forthcoming new album, Human Touch, and comes backed with remixes from three of the dance worlds most exciting producers Ejeca, Mia Dora and Andre Crom. A perfect piece of bittersweet house music, Everytime expertly straddles the line between euphoria and melancholy. Wreathed in luminous synth washes, punctuated by bright stabs of melody and underpinned by a bass line Orbital would have been proud of in their heyday, Everytime marks a triumphant return for Grum. Once again producing the kind of track that sounds at home at 4pm on the radio as it does reverberating through the smoke and lights of a warehouse at 4am. Hot off the back of remixes for the likes of Bebe Black and Russ Chimes and an almost permanent presence in the sets of DJs such as Pete Tong, Belfasts Ejeca goes deep, turning in a slow burning remix that builds over the course of three minutes before the beat kicks in. Cocooned in a wash of woozy strings, bleeps that fade in and out of the mix and the vocal sample reduced to just a ghostly echo of close your eyes, Ejecas mix is ambient house at its finest. Glasgow duo Mia Doras recent remix of house legend Romanthony marked them down as ones to watch. Here they follow up that promise with a system shaking garage workout complete with heavy bass, shuffling beats and a killer organ line. Soundinglike Shadow Child on Buckfast, this is the kind of cool-as-you-like 90s inspired big tune that will cut it with Jackmaster and Oneman as well as ruling the playlists of Jaymo & Andy George come Ibiza time. For his remix Berlin based producer Andre Crom, sets his sights on the heart of the dancefloor. Stripping the track back to a tough jacking beat, skippy percussion and the kind of bass line you feel as much as hear, Croms remix favours function over form. The result is house music in its purest form, sure to feature in sets everywhere from Dalston basements to the terraces of Ibiza. Combining an encyclopedic knowledge of underground electronic music with a head for the catchiest pop melodies Grums debut album, Heartbeats, won over everyone from Mixmag to The News of the World, Zane Lowe to Jo Whiley. Now with electronic music bigger than ever, Grum is back to soundtrack the summer with what is sure to be one of the most anticipated dance records of the year.
