"Divine Disaster" / "Night Time Solace" will be released on his own label, He Loves You Not Recordings, and follows The Ethereal Experience EP. With a musical knowledge that belies his youthful 20 years. XO (AKA Sunil Heera) has had an enviable start to his short career. Since uploading a handful of edits online 2 years ago, the lauded beatsmith has found fans in Radio 1's Annie Mac, Diplo and SOHN, racked up Soundcloud plays in the millions and received high praise from both sides of the Atlantic - from Pitchfork to NME.
His latest release continues to live up to the hype and sees XO play with just as many disparate influences as his first two EP's - neo soul, funk, hip hop, the faint pulse of deep house - with an added abstract twist. The A side features the vocals of Sydney based newcomer James Chatburn, a collaboration that is, simply put, a dream. Chatburn's velvety smooth vocals bubble above the surface of warm beats and future R&B - making for something entirely intoxicating. The B-side "Night Time Solace" favours woozy, blown-out sounds and sample-heavy electronica for a gorgeous slice of twisted soul.
Both tracks display a spiritual connection with turn-of-the-millennium R&B and hip hop, a musical bond formed by XO's family during his early teen years. With relatable song writing to boot - "Divine Disaster" is influenced by the story of 2014 film "Gone Girl" with Heera claiming the EP to be about how "our head and heart can sometimes be in two different places, in some cases we confront it and in others we learn to live with it" - it's an EP that's destined for repeat play and enjoyment and further cements XO a future star.
