Sly Faux has always been a favourite at One4SevenOne Records. First releasing “Liasons” on Melbourne Sampler A earlier this year, Sly Faux has now come to release his latest single “Cut A” on the label, with a remix from Tom Stevens.

“Cut A” is very much a progressive track. With Sly Faux starting with a solitary percussive beat, he quickly introduces a heavy bass and continues to toy with varying the level of these throughout. A track of build-ups and breakdowns, Sly Faux brings in elements, lets them ride and then strips them back to that swooping, obscure sound that runs through the track’s duration.

Tom Stevens’ remix of “Cut A” focuses on bringing out the groove; with an emphasis on heavy kicks and light, sharp snares. He provides an entrancing bridge midway through the track, where a reverberating clap is used to build tension. The large wallowing sound re-enters with an extra distortion kick, which then progresses to bring the track to a close with a clean snare drum.

Sly Faux’s “Cut A,” including the remix from Tom Stevens, will be released on One4SevenOne Records on August 12th.
