As a team Alvina Red and Manuel Perez are a subtle yet potent force in deep house and electronica. Perez needs little introduction to the dance music aficionado with a history steeped in quality techno and house music making. Perez is the driving force behind Lace recordings and Enjoy recordings and a fully paid up member of the Marendadisc family. His history, however, includes Svek, Wrong Steps, plumphouse and Yoshitoshi to name a few. Added to that are cherished remixes for the likes of Orlando Voorn, Brooklyn Funk Essentials, Alton Miller and Dj Mourad that showcase his vast array of talent and diversity from Deep soulful house to disco to funk and hi tech soul, Perez is a true unsung hero of electronica, pioneering, innovating and prolific.
Born and raised in Stockholm Johanna Alvina aka Alvina Red has been learning music since she was six. By the age of ten, she had her first studio recording session performing backings for none other than Swedish pop sensations Abba. As a teenager she has been part of professional choirs and got gigs such as the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, but at the same time she was lead singer in a P-Funk band which made her write her first songs. The musical gifted Alvina Red has recorded in the past some vocals with some artists like Jori Hulkkonen, Dan Curtin Hakan Lidbo, Pawel Kobak and Martinez, however, for Nice & Nasty she has teamed up with her real life love, her husband Manuel Perez and in their own words they invite you for a romantic night ride in the streets of Tokyo of the early seventies, driving the cult classic and, like their music, sensually designed "Celica" by Toyota. The Celica may be a Japanese cultural icon but the music is a fusion of cultures and styles from France, Sweden, Japan and even Ireland, the home of Nice & Nasty. Top producers from the Nice & nasty and Marendadisc families are on remix duty: Tomas Jirku and Mark o'Sullivan appear courtesy of Nice & Nasty whilst DJ Mourad and Raph Dumas lend a hand to their friend and inspiration Perez, but note recently Mourad has also joined the Nice & Nasty family. This is a release with eclectism and exotism, for club DJ's as well as for picky music selectors.
