The enigmatic Blue Boy comes to us via the year 3001. He hails from one of Jupiter's 12 moons. Exactly which moon is unspecified. He first entered Earth's atmosphere in the early 1970's when he landed in the New York borough of Brooklyn. He came with nothing except a large, futuristic tape player, now called the "ghetto blaster." When he heard the music being played on the streets, a fusion of soul and funk, he was so excited that he started to dance. He would do a weird combination of pops, dips, and spins. Everybody laughed at him. But, a couple of years later, his style of dancing became recognized as a cultural form of expression. His dance became referred to as "break dancing." Earthlings made some movies about it. White kids in the suburbs even started doing it. The problem was that now that people were looking for the weird little creature, nobody could find him. This funny little, blue colored alien had disappeared. It wasn't until 1995 that Ascension Records in the UK put out a relatively unknown EP by somebody named Blue Boy that people started to think that maybe he was still with us. Once again, Blue Boy achieved cult status with the song "Sandman". And now, in 1997, again, this mysterious figure shocks the world with his fusion of the '70s funk and the future with "Remember Me" on Guidance Recordings in the US. Still nobody has seen him or knows where he is. "Remember Me" might be his final opus. Or maybe, he will grace us with more of his unique sounds in the future.
