Milkplant is Justin Pennell of Oakland, California. He's the label founder of From 0-1, one of the West Coast's most burgeoning techno labels. Originally from Milwaukee nestled deep in the Midwest he pulls influence from his experience growing up in the cold north- a place saturated with techno phenomena. Influences: Detroit's techno, Chicago's house, Milwaukee's hardcore, and an endless list of Industrial, Punk, Ska, and Metal bands. Beginning as a DJ in 2000, and then with production in 2004, the only road to him is the road ahead. In 2008 he chanced upon The Automatic Message's brilliant techno prowess beginning a fruitful relationship of forward thinking unabashed techno productions, and various signings to From 0-1. The Automatic Message is an ongoing audiovisual project between Trevor Jacobson (techno producer) and Tanya Goehring (photographer/non-linear filmmaker) of Vancouver, Canada. Mixing photography, film and sound together, they create slightly off-kilter techno and perform live audiovisual sets. Together, and separate, Milkplant & The Automatic Message have been spied by some of the techno world's luminaries and the plans slated for the not-too-distant future will reveal what is now hidden, but soon to be in view.
Their first track is « Your Eyes Give You Away », a deep techno track with a catching rhythm, first remixed by Subdoubt (Pilbus Records Founder) who chose to add a bit more dancefloor feeling, but also remixed by Jon Virtue who already shown us his talent remixing Sasa Radic on Pilbus Records a few months ago.
For « House Party », Milkplant is now alone doing this subtle original track for our real pleasure, remixed by Andrea Frisina who already released the banging « Monolith EP ». And for the first time on the French label, Bugged is beautifully ending the EP with a powerful remix from UK.
