DescriptionNick Stoynoff's 'Berlin' EP was first released in January 2012 to collective support from all quarters. As a man born and raised in one of the founding cities of house, this Chicago artist has always commanded huge respect for his own work in addition to a keen ear for spotting classy progressive music, reflected in his AandR work for Solarstone's 'Music vs Art' conceptual spinoff imprint, Molecule.
As a result of the initial success of 'Berlin', the first track from the EP to receive a full release, 'Brandenberg' gave rise to two stunning remixes from Proton regulars Colourblock and Magitman. Named after the iconic Berlin nightclub, two more movements from a pair of red-hot progressive nubreeds now complete the concerto as 'Berghain' takes centre stage in all its hedonistic glory.
Ottawa resident, Nigel Good has been at the heart of the Jacob Henry run imprint Silk Royal over the past year, creating waves with his first release 'Known Universe'. And with other releases on Nueva, Particles and Alexey Sonar's Intricate, this Canadian has served up a royal treatment of 'Berghain'. Full of chunky, staccato rhythms, Nigel's remix effortlessly builds in feel-good melodic elements before a huge chasm-deep bass line rips through the latter stages, grabbing the listener by the scruff of the neck.
From the UK cathedral city of Norwich, Scott Andrews under his Scotty.A guise has been a progressive revelation since 2011. With much-admired work for Particles, Balkan Connection, Lowbit and further tracks licensed to Armada, this former Global Underground 'bedroom producer' competition winner has provided a classy, mature sounding remix of Stoynoff's original. Packed full of driving energy from a pulsing kick drum, emotive melodies combine with a mirrored bass line and offbeat stabs to create and epic and truly engaging sound.
With a multitude of releases on labels such as Solaris, Baroque, Stripped and Apollo, Proton is proud to welcome back two new stellar remixes from one of its beloved returning sons.
