Eat Dust aka Portuguese DJ and producer Mario Silva heads up the brand-new imprint Cylinder with the superb Arruaceiros EP. A sub-label of our flagship Piston Recordings, Cylinder will be dedicated to all things tech house and techno, leaving Piston with sumptuous deep house and house grooves. It's no accident that we have Eat Dust at the helm for the launch of this new label, he has been instrumental in putting us on the map with tech inspired vibes. Over the last number of years, he has dished out a slew of quality cuts for us and we're delighted to have him ply his trade on this new venture.
Cylinder's inaugural track, Arruaceiros, gets us moving with a solid, tech inspired kick drum and crispy sharp hi hat sequence which delivers a nice rhythmic vibe. A deep bassline weaves through the sound, carving out a powerful groove that forces you to move. Weird and wonderful vocals are spread throughout alongside some very nice synth work. On the break a simple melody joins the vocal before a raucous build-up takes us back to full on mode. A great opener that will not disappoint.
Desabafo completes this maiden release and like its predecessor we get right down to business with a very nice thumpy kick drum and crispy hi hat combo. Tribal style drums come through creating a very dancey rhythm that will easily get the floors moving. A deep, probing bassline shores up the low end as elongated keys linger. Cool vocals add a club vibe to the sound and blend effortlessly with sporadic synths. A drum heavy construction that is a must have for any party looking to hit the sweet spot at peak time.
