Bristol DJ/producer duo Apexape only just got started, but their small handful of releases is already showing their intent to stand tall against their hometown's incredible music heritage. Their breakthough track, a remake of the Frankie Beverley & Maze classic Joy & Pain, displays an unashamed commercial touch - and led to remixes for the likes of Emeli Sande - but other excursions reveal an unusually eclectic breadth of styles drawn from drum & bass, hip-hop and straight up underground house. Their DJ exploits have already included stints at Glastonbury, Festival No.6, Budafest, Beatherder, Bestival and Snowbombing, a residency on Kiss Fresh FM and shared bills with Eats Everything, Camelphat, Rudimental and Disclosure.

For Amen, featuring the stunning vocals of Tawiah, Apexape turn their talents to gospel house, a sound that fits Strictly Rhythm like a needle fits in a groove. The result is a deeply soulful, inspirational session that puts the Bristolians up among Baltimore and New Jersey's finest.
