Just remember that Chapelier Fou has studied violin at the conservatory then he escaped from it before coming back in order to deepen his musical knowledge (in such a way as to become a music teacher). He discovered the electro music when he was at the high school. He started with the sampling and later find more interesting to create himself sounds and loops that he mixes with his violin, his synthesizers and his guitar. Alone on stage he impresses by his high performances which will allow him to be one of the most beautiful musical discoveries of the Printemps de Bourges festival and the most noticeable young talent during the Eurockeennes 2009. He came again to the Printemps de Bourges in 2010 whereas his first album ''613'' which was released the same year, was showered with praise by all types of medias and was a real public success. Afterwards, he will give dozens of concert in France (Francofolies, Bataclan, Vieilles charrues..) but also abroad (Sziget, Paleo, Dour ).
While he is going on an international way (he will be in China at the time of his third album's release), Chapelier fou gives us again some references to complete a trilogy which aim is to record some titles previous to ''613'', and nevertheless familiar to some of us who have seen him on the stage. We know that sometimes, he bases his creation on the improvisation but also he likes getting away from a very theoretical idea or an underlying logical which can purely be conceptual. However they are often invisible for the hearer who is transported to a cinematic world. For the first time, Louis gives us more details about the 5 titles of the third and last EP, which is going to be called ''Al Abama'' in reference to the first track of the disc. A very old song that have never been registered but my recently acquired organ Farfisa made me take the plunge. ''Right place and left time'' an old song has been reviewed and improved thanks to its stage experience explained Louis.
Chapelier Fou is delibaretely and logically more evasive about mysterious message : a voice sample read by oscilloscopes which make it understandable, the whole enveloped by desynchronized arpeggiators. However he does not hide when he eyes the side of some many influences and references as for the good spelling, a small wink to some tracks of Prefuse 73. It is like a study on violin samples faced to gamelan patterns and also an alternation of binary and compound bars. The experienced musician as the novice listener will get something out of it and on this point Chapelier Fou commands the respect, even though he enjoys confusing the issues. What he says about the music piece which closes his third EP shows that the loop of his first musical experiences Hahaha is closed. He refers to the last seconds of the disc ''Rock Bottom'' of Robert Wyatt. With this laugh (Hahaha) can this piece be taken seriously or not?
