The artist formerly known as Abacus is now reborn as a:xus. The follow-up to his smash hit "When I Fall" (GDR020) will amaze all music lovers, alike. "Calling You" does extreme justice to the original of Javetta Steele's theme song from the underground movie "Bagdad Cafe". Not only is this song a terrific choice to remake, but this particular rendition is utterly beautiful. Simple, infectious chords lace the track, while Toronto's latest vocal prodigy glides over the the light breaking percussion. a:xus incorporates wispy echoes on the closing phrasing and wind effects to fuse Naomi's silky voice neatly into the track. The radio version maintains the integrity of the original while shortening its length. The bonus beats are just flanged out beats with a reinforced kick drum. This 11 minute opus, solidifies a:xus' place as one of the top dance producers and sets the stage for the his upcoming album.
