TONY AMHERST
RUSH

Tony Amherst was spawned from the suburban United States. For the most part, his upbringing is a mystery. Rumours abound of incarcerations, abuse, mental facilities. What's known for sure is that TA spent the better part of his life on the road, here and there, near and far. So far, his output has been restricted mostly to soundtracks for gay porn for companies like Berlin's Cazzo and New York's High Drive.

Rush is a sprawling, nearly two hour collection of electronic instrumentals culled from TY's years on the road; in the bars, dark rooms and parks of the world, behind the camera and in front of it. Sound quality and ideas very from track to track, depending on mood and whatever recording facilities were close to hand. The sound is indulgent, deep, sly, and nitrous. Says Tony, "The music is best enjoyed, in any order, during any and all erotic encounters and / or when one is right on the cusp of sleep. In other words, listen during those time when unconsciousness sets in and voices are heard, thus the music itself becoming a conversation." Commenting on the random production values of the record, Tony declares, "I abhor retro elitist purism. I encouarage people to listen to the music on cheap, bad systems. Its cheap music. This is another reason its a digital release. Peoples standards have lowered to hearing music on the smallest systems imaginable. The turnover of music today is lightning fast, like pornography itself."

To launch the release, Tony will be making an extremely rare performance at Exile Gallery in Berlin on July 31st 2010. The performance will coincide with another staple on the underground porn scene: a new issue of legendary queer smut 'zine Straight To Hell. There will also be limited edition data CDs sold at the opening, with a cover design by artist Christophe Chemin. Owners of the CD (as well as those who purchase the album digitally) are encouraged to load the music onto their favorite digital player and listen to the complete album in shuffle mode.

There is no order, explain the liner notes.
