Madrid based Gonzalo Luque has provided a steady stream of impressive productions under his Soulwerk alter ego since 2011's debut for Whose Haus. Previously featuring on such imprints as Cr2, Great Stuff and Saved with considerable success, the Soulwerk name allowed Luque to change direction and concentrate on the "intimate concept of electronic music". A regular on Balkan Connection, Replug and the Visceral compilation series, March 2015's "Genesis" on the Nick Warren managed Hope was a notable career highlight. Supported by Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Muir, the Soulwerk portfolio for Proton began with the enigmatic "Searching For You Through the Stars" in 2014 with subsequent remixes from Rich Curtis and Kastis Torrau. 2015's "Spiritcatcher" marked another high point to be followed by a forthcoming remix EP.
With a foundation of heavy beat and lazy percussive rhythms, the Soulwerk remix of "21:21" is a rich and textured affair that revels in intelligent melodic elements that provide a hypnotic path alongside pitched and gated pad phrasing. A sure-fire dance floor hit with its tech house tribal rhythms and echoes of Silinder's original melodies, the Soulwerk remix is likely to earn the Spaniard many more fans.
From cosmopolitan Istanbul on the banks of the ancient Bosphorus, Erdi Irmak has emerged to blend the subtle eastern flavours of his Turkish homeland with a thoroughly modern production sound that has seen his status rise rapidly. A penchant for a host of styles ranging from deep house to progressive and techno, Irmak's 2011 debut on Physical Gravity quickly expanded into an ever-increasing body of work for the likes of Movement, Stripped and LuPS.
A score of production credits for sister label Particles and a debut full-length album, have also seen the "You In Me" EP hit Proton music with remixes from Tvardovsky and Lonya, while the forthcoming "Night" EP continues Erdi Irmak's trend in producing original material. Remixing Silinder, the Erdi Irmak remix sees "21:21" taken in a smooth melodic direction. Tribute is fully paid to the original mix with house flavour and chords in tact, while Irmak's additional production material has provided an elegant percussive flair to accompany new melodic sequences. The result is something special.
A pair of new remixes from Soulwerk and Erdi Irmak has seen Silinder reach new maturity with "21:21".
