Here we go back in time to World War Two times with a total blitzkrieg of an EP, entitled 1944, from Hot Goods (formerly known as Grande). This four-variety release contains three originals from the man himself as well as a cheeky remix of the title track. The track in question is something truly special and features a descending percussive hit that tears its way through a sound system like a stream of MP40 rounds over a beat that hits like a Howitzer shell. On remix duties we have WATSN, who has switched the percussion for a barrage of equally naughty mid-range stabs in a funky triplet pattern. Next up is 'Shogun', with a gnarly but bouncy bass riff that sounds like a fitting theme tune for any Japanese military ranking to chop some stuff up to. To bring this work of art to a close we have 'Ghoul' that fuses a high pitched, detuned bassline sound with jacking drums. Although the EP is titled 1944, the level of finesse this producer possesses is at least a whole century ahead!
