Al ‘Merse’ Mersom is an electronic musician and DJ, basedin Bristol.Merse spent 10 years in the Army travelling the world where not only did it turn his hair completely grey, it exposed him to a wide variety of cultures influencing his musical interests today. His music doesn’t feature much in the way of Bulgarian Bagpipes but working in communications led to a lot of white noise exposure and no doubt led to his love of EDM. Several tours of Northern Ireland and Bosnia meant extended periods sat on top of mountains and EDM played a large part in providing mental stimulation and alleviating boredom.Growing up in the 80s synth pop era also of course had a big influence to his current style and he mixes progressive trance, house, melodic techno and EDM with silky synths and banging bass lines to great effect.Merse is now working in IT consultancy and applying his technical skills to taking his passion for DJing and music production forward in a big way. He has a successful string of DJ mixes behind him that are now being released monthly as part of Immersed Radio. As a natural progression from DJing to music production, Merse now has his first three tracks completed. 'Game Over' and 'Track 2' have been released as free digital downloads and 'Strangers' is due for release on the World Disorder label in the Spring.Along with the monthly radio show, Merse is working on releasing his debut EP this year and enjoys the challenge of remixing, entering as many competitions as he can cope with!
