Lady Hypnotic is much more than a 'female' DJ; she is a DJ period and easily holds her own amongst the industry's best. When she is not spinning the decks, she plays composer and singer. She thrives off music and regularly skips sleep for it. She figures that's all she needs to keep her going.Coming from a musical family, Lady Hypnotic describes singing as 'second nature'. Lady Hypnotic has been passionate about music for as long as she can remember. So fanatical that at high school discos, she would always be the only female, standing in front of the DJ, absolutely engrossed at the artistry involved. In 2001, during grade nine, she decided to be proactive about her musical proclivity. Her opportunity came whilst in the company of a crew of club DJs, including DJ Clock. They called themselves the Veger Vinyl. Lady Hypnotic quickly wrapped her head round the mixing techniques and became the clique's first lady.As glamorous as that sounds, they had to deal with plenty struggles including the lack of parental support, equipment and Vinyl’s.But she kept at it because she 'had to answer her calling'. Lady Hypnotic owes her ability to move crowds to her innate love for people who in turn find her to be approachable and warm. She says that she enjoys listening to others and for that reason she is determined to venture into psychology one day. She goes on to jokes that, 'when she is not doing music, she is busy with her patients at home.'Her resume boasts a highly applauded collaboration with the SAMA nominee DJ Clock on Courage feature on 'T he First Tick'. International house genius NickHolder was so impressed by the track that he had to add his own flavour to the track by remixing it. She has been working on tracks that have been released on downloads and is soon to release a series of thee hottest club bangers. In spite of her popularity and as a result of her eager and unprejudiced spirit, Lady Hypnotic is keen to work with both local and international producers. She also draws inspiration from the likes of Vikter Duplex and Blaze because of 'how they project their voices'. She finds it extraordinary that even when their voices are calm, they still manage to take the listener to new heights in a seemingly effortless fashion. In terms of lyrical content, Hypnotic looks to India Arie, Musiq Soulchild and Thandiswa Mazwai for insight.
This rising star DJ is not just here to learn but also to conquer and as a triple threat, she is well on her way to doing exactly that, Lady Hypnotic.
