It was in 2013 that duchess came into contact with deep house and techno music through the Los Angeles underground nightlife scene. Two years into experimenting various styles behind the decks, duchess begun releasing mixtapes of her own. A combination of deep house, techno and afro house. Inspired by Burning Man, various artists such as Icelandic band GusGus, Danish producer Be Svendsen, Dixon, and many others, the mixtapes took off and she started playing her first gigs in LA at venues / parties such as Deep Space LA, Pattern Bar, Clinic & Bukhaus.
