Straight out of sunny Portugal comes DJ Downrock, who has been exploring the grey areas between dubstep, techno, 90s Portuguese rave, lusophone electronics and global bass for nearly a decade – both through his work in the studio and also in the clubs. For that reason he has been called “The Portuguese Bass Maestro”. Back in 2010 he was a participant at Red Bull Music Academy in London with the tender age of 21, when he was still known as Infestus - around the same time when his debut release got played at then pirate Rinse FM. He has since released in various labels such as Chrissy Muderbot’s Chicago based Loose Squares, Photonz’ run One Eyed Jacks - whose “Lost Bangers EP” was hand picked by the legendary rave journalist Simon Reynolds as one of the best releases of 2013 - and his own, now defunct, Circus Maximus. Over the years he has opened for names such as Hudson Mohawke, Mala, Bok Bok, Lil Silva, Cardopusher, Onra, Visionist and others in all the top clubs in the country, such as Lux, Gare, MusicBox and festivals like Super Bock Super Rock and Boom Festival. For the previous year he has been hosting a regular show on SUB.FM and iscurrently running a regular podcast series. DJ Downrock represents the Portuguese sound of the future. Remember the name.
