‘Practice makes perfect’ is a statement that holds trueespecially in the case of the Hip Hop genre, either on themic or the mixer. Andreas Strobel’s practice with twoturntables and a cross-fader made him at last succeed inwinning a prestigious mix-contest at radio station AntenneBayern in 2003. This was a huge step in the career of theyoung DJ, for he won a support slot on the tour of the twofamous jurors, Tom Novy and DJ Friction. ‘Technique’ wasalready his pseudonym in the early days that he did creditto. He and Ulrich Hilbel started to perform together under thename ‘CRUSHBOYS’ in 2011.As a jack of all trades on musical instruments and theproduction desk, Ulrich was the perfect complement to formthe artist act CRUSHBOYS. Ulrich has already beenprogramming beats for 15 years by means of minimalequipment. Looking back on a musical career as a producerfor other artists, he was the one who put he project on solidground. Minimal are also the Techno beats Ulrich hasstarted to spin only 4 years ago.The CRUSHBOYS proved its huge potential for big roomaffairs at the party of RT L II’s famous dance program T heDome. This and other experiences led to the question ofhow to gain even wider recognition in the music biz. T heanswer was delivered by Andreas’ ex-collegue at DeluxeMusic, the A&R pro Anusch Mehdizadeh: ‘You need tosucceed with a club anthem.’ Consequently, Anusch startedto check his network for ideal partners and collaborations. Luck fell in the right place at the beginning of 2011, whenAndreas’ mentor, DJ Minike, contacted Florida based studioof Miami Beat Wave. The result of this contact was the remixof their album and thus, a door to vocalists was pushedopen. On the benefit of this connection with the USA, thefirst production In Your Rhythm feat. Miami Beat Wave (DDCTop 40) resulted in the release of their debut single onNewpool Music. CRUSHBOYS unifies the forceful concept ofparty-friendly, commercial dance music according to the idolsof world’s famous David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia andothers with the scratch skills derived from the Hip Hop rootsof DJ Technique.
