Ripperton’s “Zugunruhe” was the opening track of our compilation this year. With its extraction on vinyl, we close the chapter “Grand Cru 2007” to focus on the next year’s edition. I doubt it’s necessary to say another word about this exceptional artist. A loyal Connaisseur family member, a friend and brilliant DJ, already very successful with his own wonderful imprint Perspective.
“Zugunruhe” is a lively detroitish tech-house tune, with a bassline reminiscent of Goofy riding a prairie horse, hypnotic cowbell action and a childhood-memoryesque bellish theme.
Not a peaktime tune, more like the kind of track you play in the beginning of the night to conjure a smile on every dancer’s face.
Daniel Stefanik – Leipzig’s Detroit hope, Moon Harbour family member and Cargo Edition mastermind, delivers an outstanding interpretation of “Zugunruhe”. An after-party tune with a smacky groove, which slowly builds up and features an up crawling, heart-rending melody.
The track finalises in an epic, beatless string outro of almost three minutes, with chirping birds, creating a connection to the title of the tracks…wonderful!
