He's released his excellent blend of melodic techno on a growing number of respected labels and Archipel is very pleased to welcome Ryan Davis to its growing roster of artists. Without further ado we present a beautiful and highly hypnotic single from Ryan entitled "Zodiac" which is backed by a remix from Somfay. "Zodiac" carries its full weight behind an entrancing, ebbing and flowing, staccato melody which subtle spirals and curves its way through peaks and valleys, always maintaining wondrous tension, and carrying the listener, and especially dancer, into a landscape of sparking and fizzing, warm, orange glow which etches and arcs as it bleeds and flows along at the perfect pace through black basalt terrain in a very fractal manner, much like lava flows out from a volcanic eruption during the dark of night. Coupled with the original is a remix from Somfay which takes Zodiac and spins it into a slowly waving chug. The original's melody is set in slow motion, taking the original jewel and, zooming inward and out at the same time, carefully launching it over the horizon, a second sun birthing the heated edge of dawn while being wrapped in smelted and alloyed, softly destructive percussion.
