Favorite Flava are a Swedish group creating a fantastic blend of soul, pop and funk and demonstrate an unusual approach to melodies, unconventional chord progressions and beautiful harmonies all mixed together with painfully honest Nordic melancholies. VII follows their critically acclaimed debut album Different Phase (released in 2009 on Ubeat Records) and is reminiscent of 1980's synthesized funk and futuristic studio experiments with a playfulness that could be likened to Hendrix or Prince's uncompromising studio work. On remix duties we have Funkystepz, who are a force to be reckoned with on the UK funky circuit. They have enjoyed support from BBC Radio 1, Kiss and Choice FM, as well as many underground stations and now host their own radio show on Rinse FM every Friday (11am-1pm). February also saw their release of Fuller / Hurricane Riddim on the achingly hip Hyperdub label founded by Steve Goodman (aka Kode9).
