Originally created in 1994, Christian Smiths Tronic label holds a special place in techno circles. A leading force in shaping a less purist techno style, Tronic was amongst the first labels to embrace sounds from house and techno to create records that DJs from both scenes would play. Spearheaded by Christian Smiths ever-popular productions, the label was re-launched with a bang in 2009 with the re-release of the 1999 hit, Move, which was followed by a run of releases and remixes from Umek, Mark Broom, Fergie, Stryke, Steve Mac, Anton Pieete, Matt Nordstrom, Psycatron, Jim Rivers and Wehbba. Having contributed heavily to the successful re-launch of Tronic with two EPs and his much acclaimed rework of Jim Rivers Full Tilt track; Wehbba was an obvious choice to headline the inaugural Tronic Treatment compilation. Originally resident in Brazil but now residing in Prague, Wehbbas talent as a DJ and producer have taken him on a worldwide journey that has seen his powerfully rhythmical and emotive productions touch down on some of the scenes most influential labels including Global Underground, Get Physical, Great Stuff, Audio Therapy, URBR as well as his own 82 Recordings label. Meant as both a snapshot of the music that made the biggest impact on Tronic over the past year and as a sneak peak at what is to come, the Tronic Treatment series aims to give an opportunity to the emerging DJs who are the life-blood of all underground labels to blend their choice of tracks from the Tronic catalogue into a continuous mix. Given free reign to pick and chose their favourite Tronic tracks, the compiling DJ is encouraged to use their own re-edits as well as their own brand new, unreleased productions. Included is a second disc containing full-length DJ-friendly versions of Tronics 2009 hits.
