With the list of talented producers busting at the seams of today’s dance music trousers; with it comes an abundance of great tracks that don’t get enough attention. Training Camp Vol. 1 is an opportunity to offer a haven for budding producers to show what they are made of. It is also a chance for us to condition our favorite artists for the big leagues – if they aren’t already there. ‘Zuma’ comes straight out of Belfast from the duo of Timmy Stewart and John McIver aka Jet Project. A flaming hot sole scorcher to light your dancing shoes on fire. Ross Evana strides in the right direction with ‘Ouija Board’. No rocket science beats, just good complementing elements woven together and blanketed by a warm subby bass. Axel Bartsch’s contribution, ‘Gude Laune’, utilizes a basis of House to build its lush Detroit-esque synth melody. An elegant track that’s suitable for inducing good moods, wherever they may be lacking. Andre Crom’s label, OFF, has been getting quite a bit of attention lately for putting out contemporary quality Deep House. ‘Now Show Me’ travels down that road with old-school House stabs constructed meticulously with liquid smooth beats Kindisch stalwart Daniel Mehlhart whips up the dark and dirty ‘Heatnut’. Tasteful and delicate use of undulating rave sounds set it apart from today’s standard sound. Spain based Frenchman, Darlyn Vlys, really blew us away with the collaborative effort, ‘Sanjay’, which was featured on the Full Body Workout Vol. 5 compilation. This time he delivers the piano and Funk laden roller, ‘La Pause’. Regardless if it is bringing through new artists or supporting some of our favorites, Training Camp Vol. 1 is based on showcasing and supporting artists who’ve made some quality tunes that are designed to be chucked into your record bag, played and put a smile on peoples faces.
