Chaim's BPC-Strike number 4 is here – therefore we wanted to greet the genius Israeli screwdriver as an old friend, but with caution: the three tracks on “Thrill You” take liberties in their highly-organized structures to cause some kind of awesomely aimed attack on the usual club music listening habits. Perfect for Chaim's art, the title track is totally unexpected and absolutely self-evident in presentation. The whole thing starts dead-on and straightforwardly housy with slightly lascivious, breathy Uhhs and Ahhs that join with the clattering Lotto-machine in tonal dialogue. The next level heralds the track with an absolutely compelling mini-melody that invariably wins with its density and triggers the imagination: the flickering neon light in steaming puddles from thunderstorms, hot asphalt? Thrill You! And suddenly the world stands on its head – the sounds of an Arabic mandolin in the 30 second bridge works while being so perfectly and intentionally displaced that it amounts to a revelation. It remains as a shadowy vision that merges again into revisited vapors and the beat-supported continuing minimal melody. The flipside first exhales and then goes on with “Danceable” straightforward house without being aurally spectacular. But then convoluted sound fragments creep in, almost imperceptibly. Increasingly stratified chords finally weave into one another as a melodic structure - as if they were in slow motion. Then the shock - sampled saxophone phrases. The first reflex would be to pull the record off the turntable. However, Chaim subtly manages the trick by playing with the typically unbearable slimy lounginess. It crystallizes in the wake of the beats, and the bar-atmosphere of the tracks remains a promise. B2 retains the mood of its predecessor. “We Do” rolls super-housy, the beat sounds like it is cast from some sort of massive, elastic synthetic material, but a catchy melody isn't necessary. Instead of being sparse, the track becomes increasingly condensed until unrecognizable bent voice samples and rhythmic echo effects are generated. At the very height of all the tension, Chaim pulls the plug and the last third of the track hits the bulls-eye.
