To do "remix justice" to one of his imprint's most beloved tracks from 2011, Jakob Faber's stunning "The Blue," Mango Alley calls upon two of his most accomplished veteran talents: Karl Johan and Shingo Nakamura. Johan, the celebrated Swedish artist who was last seen on Mango Alley with his triumphant remix of Cid Inc's "Cloudberries," serves up a delicious club-friendly rendering, centering on a hypnotic groove. Filling out the soundscape is a looping guitar riff from the original mix, as well as variety of smooth and sensual synth stabs. Rather than leading into a huge breakdown, the track just continues to crescendo and swirl, serving to send the listener into an almost hallucinogenic reverie.
Japanese sensation Shingo Nakamura, an original label artist whose career ascended to new heights this past year, offers a gorgeous take. As to be expected, his interpretation offers various new melodic layers, including a muted chord progression, some heavily filtered pads, and in the main break, an uplifting new piano lead. The drop is a real treat: the combination of the piano chords and bouncy percussion give the track a sexy dancefloor swing, a vibe that Shingo continues to build upon throughout the latter half of the tune.
