After a long wait, Touane is back solo on his beloved home base Persona. After collaborating with Nuel on Grand Theft Audio and Dozzy on The Thrillers, out last month, Marco drops a single for the upcoming sunny season.
The Birds ep features music he played during 2007 at his live shows across the globe, and it unites the freedom of the live performance improvisation to his love for detailed and sharped production in the studio with a whole new freshness.
A side Tolousian Duck is probably one of the most original and happy tracks Touane ever produced, led by a chord sequence that tends to stick in people's ears so easily, making this piece of music familiar even during the first listen. A thick kick and tom punctuation serves this one as funky highlight of the record.
On the flipside, B1, The Birds, sees Marco exploring a darker and minimal texture merging it with the free jazz craze of stolen samples from his record collection, opening the spectrum to a broader gamma of sounds, building tension and intensity slowly throughout the whole track.
B2, Landers Grove, is finally the ideal conclusion for this work, a more laidback track where the melodies get sweeter and more deeply suggestive. Still, the acoustic and electronic drum programming keeps the groove rolling, where the more mental idm innuendos get tempered by the funkier architecture of the bass line.
