Mia Grobelny (formerly known as M.I.A.) co-founded the Sub Static label ten years ago with Falko Brocksieper. Along with the more abstract & playful subdivision Karloff Rekordings, over 100 releases have seen the light of day, until an overdue break from label business was determined in late 2008. "Survivor Part 1" now indicates the official relaunch of Sub Static, and at the same time Mia Grobelny's first release in over two years. Numerous EP's on Sub Static, Traum, Trapez and Areal, and two full-length albums ("Schwarzweiss" and 2007's highly successful "Bittersuess") have established her very personal approach to modern club music, ranging between the poles of dark, bassdriven leftfield techno and deep, melancholic electronics. The four tracks of "Survivor Part 1" take up this spirit and sparkle like a gem within the desertedness of today's assembly-line techno. Mia Grobelny and Sub Static are now back in full effect -- watch out for further releases in the near future, and compilations of remastered classics & secrets from the label's extensive back catalogue.
