Silk Royal is privileged to welcome back Aerosoul for the veteran Spanish duo's 2nd release this year on our imprint. The first, "Time Is By Your Side," proved to be a label favorite, prompting us to create an official music video (http://bit.ly/AerosoulTIBYS), which recently reached 20,000 views. Their latest is "Strings Theory," a track that was originally written over 5 years ago. We're happy to revive it this summer, along with a stunning, club-oriented take by rising British talent Marsh.
The Original Mix of "Strings Theory" is a sentimental tribute to the sun-kissed, beachside Balearic sound of the early late 1990's and early 2000's. This radiant and melodic style, often featuring classical ("Spanish") guitar, harkens back to the golden era of Jose Padilla and Chicane. The song kicks off with a powerful rhythm section, as a deeply poignant guitar riff soon makes an appearance. A recurring vocal hook, a sample of Marc C Griso and Robert Bonet, adds a sensual flavor to the mix. In the main break, wonderful suspense is created by the solo'd vocals and symphonic 'string' effects, which give the track its name.
On remix detail, we have recruited Marsh, whose "Ethereal" EP on fellow Silk Music division Arrival Recordings was a triumphant breakthrough for the artist and label alike. His latest begins with a punchy groove, centering on powerful low-end bass dynamics. Meanwhile, the melodic textures begin to coalesce, featuring the haunting vocal sample from the original, as well as moody pads and hypnotic arp layers. In the main break, an emotionally resonant, bell-tinged lead progression takes hold of the tune, while the vox sample echoes behind it. The club-friendly drop to follow is well suited for end-of-summer DJ sets in Ibiza.
