Few artists have evolved as much as Slovenia's Umek, constantly expanding to other styles while furthering the technical aspect at the same time.Such is the case with the "Split" EP. Starting off with "Sunday at El Row", we are treated to a bouncy groove and a simple one-note riff that shifts and mutates throughout the length of the track. Bringing in some serious house vibes during the breakdown, the tribute to the El Row club in Barcelona continues with mangled vocals and smooth bass. It's the enigmatic intro of the title track, a homage to the city of Split in Croatia, that creates palpable tension which is released once the immense groove and familiar stabs kick in. Sharp synths appear at every corner while a cheeky melodic hook takes over while giving a sly nod to Electro.
