"I'm walking in Memphis" - if songs had a Hall of Fame, this would certainly be written down the corridors. That all too recognisable melody glistens as music royalty when you speak of famous songs. Utilised by Shut Up and Dance, an English dance music band in the early 90's. "I'm Raving I'm Raving" reached an impressive UK number 2, and the World has been crying out for someone to bring it into the 21st Century.
And with the heavy burden of carrying that mantle, Hooligan Soul, aka Jeremy Sylvester, aka legendary, been-there-and-still-doing-it UK music producer, does it so effortlessly with the help of TJ Lewis, one of London's brightest up and coming singing and songwriting talents. Their own take on "I'm Raving I'm Raving" bounces away from the old hardcore 140+ BPM and brakes just enough to bring it to a more modern take, yet completely keeping grasp of the 90s rave element. Breaks, jungle, old skool house. Dynamics, chunky percussion, hands-in-the-air-synths. This is a rave tune that combines the best days of your dad's youth and yours.
Fans of Jeremy Sylvester will already know of him via his Club Asylum guise. One of the most established names in the UK Garage music community, he is hailed as a King, sharing his throne with the likes of MJ Cole and Todd Edwards. Not only has he achieved a UK Top 20 single with his remix of "Imagine" by Shola Ama, but he has worked with some of the most notorious past and present names in showbiz, such as All Saints and N Dubz. So it seemed only fitting that he gave his fans of old and new a little treat with a remix on this insane package that also includes a funky mix by house producer Neville Smith that is sure to bring the sun out whatever the weather is. Your house fix doesn't stop there, with additional remixes such as the bassy Marc Spence remix, the deep Ilgot'n'Gane mix followed by some serious 90s overload thanks to Gary D. An additional deeper than deep mix by Undertone has already got the crowd buzzing and there's an energy kick thanks to Mikki Funk's Jungalist mix.
A song that once created history is on our doorstep again, waiting to re-create it all over once more.
